English Riviera

We left home a month ago and have been travelling pretty hard ever since.

Yesterday we needed a beach day. A day in the sun, on sand, book in hand, with sunscreen and a strong wind.

We got all that and more.

We decided to drive down to the 'English Riviera' on the South Devon Coast. We drove through Torquay and plopped ourselves in a little secluded bay called Footmead Beach.

It was just what the doctor ordered! We quickly set up shop against the stone wall and didn't move.

The beach wasn't crowded at all.

We grabbed a couple of sandwiches from a vendor up top. (Check out Joe's ham sandwich on the left. I killed myself laughing when I saw that thing.)

I went for a very short swim in the extremely chilly Atlantic waters. YOWZA! It was cold.

On the way home, we took a wrong turn. Our GPS suggested we turn around, but we decided to keep on going. Good thing we did. Our mistake took us straight to the quaint and charming village of Cockington. Nothing to do but stop for a cream tea.

I love this country.

*You know what to do with the photos.
